My name is Daniel Delgado, and I’m a Graduate Student Worker in the History department and the Sergeant at Arms of our union. I’m writing because USC is required to provide free applications for both the Childcare Fund and the Dependent Healthcare Fund by August 1st. Our new union contract provides the following benefits to Graduate Student Workers:

Dependent Healthcare

  • Grad Student Workers with dependents may apply to receive up to $2500/semester from the University.

Childcare

  • Graduate Student Workers may apply for a childcare subsidy from the University of up to $1800 per semester for each child under the age of six.

USC is currently still working on their application to apply for these funds. If you would like to be contacted for assistance and updates with the application process for either of these funds, please respond here.

These benefits are only possible because of the strength of our union! With a majority of the ~3,000 TAs, RAs, ALs, and Fellows at USC signing on as members, we have been able to consolidate our power to fight for the working conditions we need, and enforce the contract we won together. As a large, highly-engaged body of members, we can force USC to follow through on their commitments and pay these funds accurately and on time.
